Nails falling off: Is she taking any medications? Some meds like tetracyclines and others may cause nail loss. Any family hx of this? I would consult dermatologist.

Nails: Internal disease or mineral (iron, zinc,calcium) or vitamin deficiencies are very rare causes of brittle nails in a 4 yr old born and raised in the USA. One tip is that if the fingernails split, but the toenails are strong, then external factors (moisture [too much or too little] or trauma [bitting] are the probably the culprits.
