A member asked:

Hello dr., i am parul, age 30 open splenectomy done(14 yr ago) i have severe pain in legs and unbearable pain just above the knee.(upper area) there is vitamin d & calcium deficiency in my body. can this be the reason for this type of pain or anyother?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

What was the reason for splenectomy? Trauma, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia? Any further hematological symptoms? Any vein issues? Calcium & vitamin D deficiency certainly can cause muscle aches, spasms, weakness and bone pain. Unbearable pain above.knee warrants an X-Ray to look for fracture. See your physician or an endocrinologist for evaluation of causes of your deficiencies& leg symptoms
