Possibly: Appendicitis can be diagnosed by ultrasound in some patients. It is being used more and more in children to avoid radiation exposure. However, much of it is dependent on the skill of the technician and the comfort level of the radiologist. It's useful, but probably not yet as good as CT scanning. Of course, history and exam are absolutely the most important elements.
