1st time treatment?: Novantrone is not normally used as the first therapy for MS. It is used for secondary progressive MS, which occurs in people who have had MS for a long time. Some people prefer not to use novantrone.
If this is the only treatment that has been offered to you, it may be a good idea to seek a 2d opinion.

My opinion: Perhaps you have been diagnosed as having a progressive form of MS, as Novantrone is FDA labeled for Secondary Progressive. Studies using this drug early followed shortly by another agent, support better outcomes in some cases. However, I am NOT a fan, as there is risk of heart toxicity, and acute myelocytic leukemia. Did you understand these issues when med was started? Talk to your doctor.
