It is never: really dangerous, however sleeping on your back late in pregnancy when your uterus is large can put pressure on your Superior Vena Cava, causing you to have shortness of breath. If this starts to happen, lay on your left side, which will shift your uterus, and solve the problem. Hope this helps!
