Many things: The best treatments for depression are medications, counseling and exercise. The more of them you do the more likely you are to feel better. Treating the depression may relieve the insomnia but here's some other ideas:no caffeine 12 hrs before bedtime, no electronics 3 hrs before bedtime, do not exercise just before sleep and do not take meds or eat 3 hours before sleep. good luck and feel better.

Antidepressant: Tricyclic antidepressants are taken before bed because their immediate effect is sedation, which should help you with sleep. They are also used for depression and anxiety.
