Yes.: Sure sounds like it, but it must be mild because usually one has to relieve the pressure but perforating the nail. if it's only a small area of bruising and you did have recent trauma and as long as it's not painful you don't ned to do anything other than wait for it to grow out/heal. If it changes in any way, and you think there is not another explanation (e.g. trauma) let your doc have a look.

Sounds like it: Sounds like a hematoma from trauma but difficult to say without examining. If it is bothering you or not going away on it's own, see your doctor.
