Normal variant: If it's a pretty normal period and ends in 5-7 days or less, it's a normal variation. During your teen years in particular it's not unusual to have irregular periods. If this becomes a pattern then talk to your doctor. Hope that helps.

It depends: Periods when you are younger and closer to the start of your periods can sometime come irrgularly. If it happens regularly that they do not follow a strict pattern by a few years after menarchy, you should see a gynecologist or an endocrinologist.
