Is there anything other than polycythemia that would cause an increase in hemoglobin? hgb always high, beginning @ 13yo. diagnosed @ 21yo, hgb was 22.

See below: Red cell only elevation is different from increased red cells, white cells and platelets. Which do you have? If you smoke, stop. If you do mountain climbing this can increase red cells. Certain hemoglobins can increase counts as can some hormone imbalances. Please see your doctor to clarify! You may need to see an hematologist> Good luck.
