A member asked:

What is polycythemia vera? can high hemoglobin cause any cancer conditions?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PCV: PCV is a chronic neoplastic disorder of the bone marrow in which there is unregulated production of red cells leading to way too many red cells in the blood. A high hemoglobin does not cause cancer. A high hemoglobin may be the result of an underlying neoplasm as in the case of PCV.
