Osteophytes: Check out http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/bone-spurs/basics/definition/con-20024478. Osteophytes are medical term for bone spurs. Most are asymptomatic (don't cause symptoms). So it's very important that you review your xrays w/doc who ordered them in order to interpret them in the right context. This applies to all tests. We treat patients, not numbers or xrays per se. Best wishes!
