Several things: If you only have numbness in the finger on one hand it suggest that this is likely related to some degree of anatomic nerve compression rather than a concerning toxic-metabolic nerve problem(like in diabetes). It could be related to compression of one of the nerves at the level of the wrist, elbow or even from the neck. You'd be wise to see your doctor for an inperson evaluation.

Numbness in hand: may reflect an irritation along specific nerves that are responsible for sensory in those areas. Only a detailed physical examination and /or lab tests, studies can diagnose your particular case. The nerve may be irritated in your wrist as in carpal tunnel, or in your elbow or near your neck as in cervical disc pathologies. Central causes do exist as well as in MS. See your Doctor for guidance.
