My left leg hurts and the fingers on my left hand are numb, what is wrong?

See details: I am not sure the two issues are related but the problems need to be evaluated. The hand may simply be a carpal tunnel syndrome depending on the distribution of the numbness. It is really hard to draw any conclusions based on the information provided.
