Suggest endoscopy : I am glad to hear that food is no longer getting stuck. This symptom is known as dysphagia. Given your age, I would still recommend an endoscopy (EGD) to ensure that you do not have a stricture or other long term injury to your esophagus. Barrett's esophagus and possibly esophageal cancer are concerns in your age group. GERD can often be chronic, and you may need lifelong medications as well.
