OTC bleach and whitening tooth paste could be used as a supplement only. A professional teeth whitening by the dentist, followed by home whitening system with custom trays for the long term effect. No damage to enamel: whitening toothpaste can only scrub surface stains off. You really need a hydrogen or carbamide peroxide bleaching strip or gel that stays on your teeth for an extended period of time to whiten your teeth. The whitening part of the toothpaste is really just a harsh detergent that can scrub stains away. It may make your gumline sensitive, especially if you have recession.
