Ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) side effects and risks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cardiac: Ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) is a form of adrenalin. It can cause increase in heart rate, elevated blood pressure and even abnormal heart rhythm. It was associated with the deaths of a major league pitcher and a college football player a few years ago. Just because something is over the counter, it may not always be safe.
