Treatment qualified?: During your discussion of your periodontal care with the dentist, they usually spend some time in a conversation about what will happen and the expected out come. They often offer where they were trained to do the procedure and many times offer how many they have done. If Not just ask, Dr, or Staff. Most offices readily provide answers to your concerns.

Training: Dental & medical training are alike in that all generalists have basic training in each of the health care specialty areas. Your GP Physician has training in repairing broken bones, but not as much as an Orthopedic Surgeon. Your GP Dentist has training in treating gum disease, but not as much as a Periodontist (2+ year Residency plus focused limited practice). Your choice.
