Lyme disease: This is caused by deer-born ticks and can have serious long term consequences if untreated. If you live in an area that has deer or there has been reports of Lyme disease, I would certainly recommend testing. Even if it is negative in a 3 yr old, but there is a medium suspicion for Lyme, I would argue that it is worth treating with abx (doxy, amox). The risk of tx far outweighs complications of dz
