Not harmful: There is no significant evidence that either chia or pumpkin seeds are helpful or harmful for those with hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism for that matter. They can both be part of a healthy diet(though some may say be careful if you have had bouts of diverticulitis) as long as consumed in moderation. Particularly pumpkin seeds with their higher fat concentrations.

Hyperthyroidism: Most common cause of hyperthyroidism is Grave's disease which eventually burns itself out. The idea behind pumpkin seed is that overactive thyroid can deplete the zinc in the body and foods such as pumpkin seeds that are high in Zinc can be source of supplementation. There are no reliable scientific studies to support this. It is best to work with your endocrinologist to manage the symptoms.
