Anti inflammatory : Plaquinal is used in cases of inflammatory arthritis such as rhiematoid arthritis and lupus because it has strong anti-inflammatory characterics. It certainly has a significant side affect profile as well. Presumably your rheumatologist thinks it is indicated for your OA to treat inflmation. Don't hesitate to discuss this with him and never hesitate to get second opinion.
