Tonsil ectopia: Do you mean the cerebellar tonsils are in the foramen magnum? Sometimes the name of this is Chiari I (one) malformation. It is not dangerous. It is often found by accident on routine MRI scans. Does that help?

? Chiari: You may be referring to an Arnold Chiari malformation where the brain sits back. Depending on how far back it is resting there could be problems with brain pressure or spinal cord. I would advise a more comprehensive conversation with your doctor if you or a relative has this finding. Good luck

Are you referring to: An Arnold-Chiari malformation? Herniation of cerebellar tonsils? The answer regarding danger depends a great deal on the patient and what they do or dont do either vocationally, avocationally, recreationally and the severity/specific nature of the individual's anatomic anomaly. This question can only be answered in more detail by a physician who knows the case and has seen images,Neurosurgeon best
