Beta blockers: Both atenolol (tenormin) and metoprolol (toprol) are beta blockers. There is usual no problem to switch from one to the other. You dont mention the reason for the change?

Have same action: Atenolol and metaprolol are both beta-blockers and have similar actions. Being male and pregnant are incompatible conditions. In either case, hypertension is uncommon at your age and you should ask your physician if there might be a reversible cause
