Diphtheria: A disease that is uncommon in our country, the USA, is Diphtheria. This disease once infected thousands of children and caused thousands of deaths. The reason it is uncommon in our country now is because of vaccinations, specifically the DPT vaccine. Diphtheria still occurs worldwide, in tropical countries.
