Many: Lupus can cause many problems in pregnancy including blood clots, stillbirth, and hydrops fetalis. Medication needed for lupus flares can also have effects on the fetus. There is also the concern of effects on your wife's health. If a lupus flare occurs during pregnancy it can be very serious. You should discuss this with your rheumatologist before getting pregnant.
