Just ask!: I would schedule an appointment with your doctor and just inform them you feel that you need a wheelchair in order to get around and that it is too painful to walk! Hopefully this will just be needed temporarily or for long trips, but if you feel you need it don't hesitate to ask! Your doctor won't be upset with you for asking.

Speak to the Dr: A wheelchair is a piece of equipment meant to gain mobility and make you feel more comfortable. If you believe that your symptoms necessitate having a wheelchair, I believe that should be your call. Discuss it with your doctor for sure.
