It depends: How do you feel? What symptoms do you have? How high is your CPK(creatine phosphokinase) muscle protein? How long have you been on 10mg of prednisone? Any side effects to it? There are many questions to ask that require a doctor visit. I would recommend a rheumatology specialist referral from your primary physician.

Polymyalgia Rheumati: I assume u mean Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR), a condition in which ur immune system attacks muscles & soft tissue. I'm not a Rheumatologist, & I defer to a specialist, but understand that the ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation [sed] rate) is variable & a change from 44 to 30 may not b meaningful. The goal is to prescribe the lowest dose that keeps symptoms at bay, as prednisone can have side effects!
