Emergency contracept: You are describing symptom of uterine cramping which are side effects of emergency contraception pills. The way EC works is to induce a menstrual period within 12-24 hours of taking the medication which is high dose progesterone. The decline in the progesterone level causes the uterine lining to shed. It is not unusual to have cramping at 48 hours.
