Trichomoniasis: Metronidazole is the right treatment. Your partner should also be treated. From now on insist that your partner wear a condom. It is not permanent. It is caused by a single cell protozoan parasite that is killed by metronidazole. Hopefully, you are using birth control. 16 is awfully young to become pregnant. Take care.

Trichomoniasis: The treatment of choice is oral antibiotics for all sexual partners at the same time and abstain from sex till treatment is completed and symptoms are resolved. CDC recommends rescreening at 3 months post therapy for sexual active female since there is a high reinfection rate. You might also want to be tested for other sexually transmitted infections - gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV.
