If you can, STOP: if you are down to 5 cigarettes a day, then you can go the rest of the way before delivery. Smoking does not cause severe problems in all women, but in a good percentage of them. The less you smoke, the fewer problems. Congratulations on getting down to 5 cigarettes, but do the WHOLE job and quit completely. If your baby is growing properly, the placenta is likely healthy enough.

Stop now: The problem is with your child for the rest of its life. Second hand smoke will make it ill more often and if you smoke the baby is more likely to grow up smoking. You may find that switching to e cigarettes will help you stop smoking. That way no tar and you get the smell out of your clothes and house for the baby. Without those cues it will be easier to stop - Good luck
