Depends: Really depends upon the specifics of the surgery. It is not unusual to have some residual stiffness for quite a while - months - and maybe even for life depending upon the initial injury and the extent of surgery. You should talk this over with your surgeon.

Swelling hand op: First ALWAYS best to ask for surgeon. Generally it take 3 to 6 months for full recover. PT exercises will help speed this up. Again these are issues your hand surgeon needs to address..
