Splint & buddy tape: Depending on how you Jammed your thumb, you may have sustained a hyperextension or hyperflexion injury of the metacarpophalangeal joint of your thumb, with possible ligamentous tear and possible periarticular fracture. Immobilization of the affected thumb with splint, and tape, in addition to x-ray of the affected region, ice to the area are standard course of treatment.
