Pediatric: tylenol (acetaminophen) drops ( infant drops or liquid ). The mouth sorres must be examined and DO NOT USE OTC benzocaine!- requires examination.

Herpangina/dehydr: She may have hand-foot-and Mouth disease caused by Coxsackie virus A 16 without the blisters on the hands and feet. You can try oragel on the blisters for pain and the usual tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen liquids OTC, but if you cannot get her to drink. I suggest Pedialyte/Ricelyte popsicles which will ease the pain and provide liquids. If she has not urinated in 12 hrs or becomes lethargic, hard to wake ER

Virus: Most often, a virus causes these type of "apthous ulcers." The HSV 1 virus is the usual culprit ans is self limiting, and will go away in time. Oragel, which is used for teething pain can be applied by you to the ulcers and that may help soothe them in the mean time, and allow eating and drinking with less irritation at the ulcerations. If the persist, see the DR. Best wishes.

Bob's Brew: You could mix a little Maalox with Benadryl (diphenhydramine) liquid and try that; use Q-tip as an applicator and ask your little cherub to try and not do much to disturb it for 3-5 minutes(good luck with that). The sore throat sprays sometime help.Topical lidocaine gel works well needs a prescription).Hopefully, your angel is not very sick (fever, etc); if so see your doctor. Also remember bland and cold is good.

Yes: Your child probably has canker sores, which are annoying blisters in mouth of undetermined cause that often run in certain families. You can try magic mouth wash, which is by prescription to be compounded by your local pharmacy. If you have difficulty getting it, you can try making your own Magic mouth wash by mixing equal amounts of Mylanta/or Maalox and benadryl (diphenhydramine) liquid and use a q tip to apply.

More info?: Does she have a fever or sore throat, or a rash anywhere on her body? Could be symptom of hand-foot-and-mouth disease which is an easily spreadable virus that can only be treated by time and pain management with acetaminophen or ibuprofen. This website may help: http://familydoctor.org/familydoctor/en/health-tools/search-by-symptom/mouth-problems-infants-children.html
