12 weeks: 12 weeks is still early for a formal anatomic scan, so this isn't necessarily cause for alarm. In a general OB office the techs' skills with early ultrasound also vary alot. At 15-16 weeks in a perinatal specialty office, not seeing kidneys is very serious.
