Withdrawal: It is never a safe idea to abruptly stop a benzodiazepine like Valium, especially after prolonged use, as there is a risk of withdrawal symptoms that can be very severe (seizures, for example). Talk to your prescribing doctor and set up a plan to safely wean off the medicine with his/her supervision to ensure your safety.
