Follow label: is a good rule. med allergies especially to antibiotics can be fatal (nearly always be SOON after taking them--IMMEDIATE hypersensitivity reactions). These are characterized by histamine like reactions (allergic reactions like hives, itching and worst... wheeze and breathing problems). If wheeze, ER is best policy. benadryl (diphenhydramine) works fast and symptoms should improve w/out exam cannot say in your case

Allergy: You can take between 25-100 mg every 4-6 hours depending on how sedated it makes you.
