Metformin?: Hi. I presume you're talking about metformin pills. There are great alternatives. What alternative(s) you & your doc decide on depends on how high your A1c & sugars are. I think GLP-1 drugs are great (liraglutide, eventide, & albiglutide); good control effects, no risk of hypoglycemia, and weight loss. SGLT-2 inhibitors are great also for the same reasons. Of course there's always insulin.
