Irregular cycle: If she has had unprotected sexual intercourse and is late, I would advise a blood ( HCG) pregnancy test. Strong argument for birth control.

It means basically: A) She is not pregnant OR B) It's too early for a positive test. OR C) She is not producing enough HCG to convert to a positive test. I vote for option A.
