Unreliable: CRP is a blood test that can be elevated in a wide variety of medical conditions. It is not nearly specific enough to be used to diagnose cancer. A diagnosis of cancer is based on multiple kinds of information, some blood tests, some imaging tests, and others are tissue biopsies.
