Iron deficiency: Not exactly sure of your situation, but...iron deficiency anemia takes a while to correct. Body takes about a week or so to rev up bone marrow once iron is absorbed. Replacing all the missing cells will take much longer especially if there are ongoing losses. Trouble breathing related to iron deficiency anemia is NOT treated with iron. See your doc or the Emergency Room depending upon severity.

Iron deficiency: You obviously have chronic iron deficiency from heavy menstrual bleeding . How low is your hemoglobin. If it is rally low and you are short of breath ,you may need blood. You have to take iron regularly once or twice a day and be sure to take it in between meals, with Vitamin C for better absorption. Do not take it with antacidBecause it retards iron absorption.You can also Take rich iron food
