A member asked:

I am being retested for hyperthyroid. in june, my t3 (liothyronine) was normal but not my tsh and t4. the retest calls for tsh and t4 free. should t3 (liothyronine) be included?

No: the free T4 and tsh should be adequate to make the proper diagnosis.

Yes: Hi. Yes, if your TSH was abnormal (presumably low and maybe undetectable) and free T4 abnormal (presumably high) yet with a normal T3 (liothyronine), (liothyronine) I'd certainly repeat the T3 (liothyronine). You could have any number of conditions causing this, but some of which could become MORE hyperthyroid, and T3 (liothyronine) would be good to measure. T3 (liothyronine) levels change the fastest if thyroid function is changing over time. Talk with your doc.
