A member asked:

Recently had a colonoscopy, but a retcal retroflexion couldn't be done due to pain, could it have missed something? by not having retroflexion done?

Possibilities...: Rectal retroflexion aids in detection of anal fissure, hemorrhoidal bleeding, proctitis (inflamed rectum), anal abscess or fistula, trauma to the anal canal, skin changes around the anus (benign or malignant) or distal proctitis. Discuss with your doctor what his clinical concerns & suspicions were that prompted the colonoscopy, & whether he feels the procedure was enough to address them.

Possibly: Discuss this with your gastroenterologist. See if he wants to do a limited CT colonoscopy to complete the exam.
