Get Xray: If your arm hurst after a traumatic fall and not getting better, get an X-ray. Use ice and motrin or advil (ibuprofen) for pain and swelling until X-ray. If not broken, use REST treatment. Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate.

Broken arm????: depends - any recent trauma?? Generally fractures of the arm are associated with force injuries - and have associated swelling, bruising and tenderness as well as deformity of the bones. Best advise - consult a physician - you may need an x-ray. X-rays are the really only good way to diagnose most fractures.
