It can be: Sometimes if wax is really packed into the ear canal, trying to remove it can cause some irritation or a scratch to the lining of the ear canal. If you had an infection at the time, the lining may be more fragile. If it continues to bleed or other fluids are coming out, see your doctor..

Common: Any time they clean your ear out while awake there is a good chance the tools will hit the canal wall & scratch it. It is sensitive & bleeds easily, more so if inflamed. The bleeding is usually minimal & the scratch self heals in a few days. The alternative was to have it done under anesthesia where you couldn't move & the injury less likely. It wouldn't be covered by insurance, but could be done.
