What's the most likely cause of crepitus in multiple joints? i have it in my upper and mid back, neck, shoulders, wrists and ankles.

Most likely cause: is degnerative arthritis. If it is predominantly in the small joints and worse in the morning upon arising, rheumatoid arthritis or something like it is more likely. Consult your doctor for accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.

Osteoarthritis: Unfortunately, it is most likely a sign of degenerative joint disease or osteoarthritis. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/osteoarthritis/basics/definition/con-20014749
