What was in them?: Diet pills containing ephedrine (ephedrine sulfate) are known for affecting heart rate and rhythm and are essentially banned. Other dangerous diet pill components include synephrine, phenolphthalein, and sibutramine, among others. Duration of adverse effects could be very unpredictable and possibly prolonged. Safest: healthy diet and regular exercise for weight loss. Good luck!
