Woe is Warts: Tell that to a wart. And hey, there can theoretically be little teeny weeny cracks in the skin you can't see. But,those virus warts like to live in the superficial skin layer (the "epidermis")and can get their grubby claws in there with or without a break in the skin. What helps them along is moisture, and you can't get more moist than a cervix; they also like soft skin, like on your ----. Get treated!

The virus can get: into small pores and mucosal surfaces like vagina, I do recommend the gardasil shots for immunization from the most dangerous strains of HPV , if you haven't had it and are HPV negative I would consider it!

Not 100%: There does appear to be a requirement for the mechanical action of sex to pass the germ. Even well lubed, you have some skin to skin friction and this roughs up the skin surface enough that these viruses can transfer. The skin surface is a series of dead cells like leaves on a forest floor. The germ only needs to get under the top layer to begin the infection.
