Many possibilities.: There are a number of possibilities, including vascular, fascial, bone, muscle or nerve pain. They range from minor problems to serious conditions. If the pain does not resolve on its own, see your doctor who can take a history and examine you. If necessary, diagnostic tests may be helpful in establishing a diagnosis. Hope you feel better soon.

Either or neither: If there is pain but no swelling, tenderness, warmth or redness to the area, either could do it and it would not be worrisome. If the calf is swollen or tender please do see someone to have it evaluated.

Depends: If sharp, deep, ache type pain..usually muscle. If electrical, burning, tingling..usually nerve. When it happens try keeping knee straight, gently/slowly move top of foot up towards the lower leg/'ankle...making ankle/foot at 90 degrees and hold this. If muscle cramp in calf muscle, should relieve it. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Dr R
