HEY! TMJ!: Keep your tongue between your teeth.Or put a squeaky toy between them. Or chew gum (better than chewing teeth).Or a toothpick (very sexy).Or stop trying to train white sharks to lick instead of bite. You under stress? I BET you are.Worse in the morning? An OTC night bite block might help. You don't want to grind them pearls into dust!Ask your dentist if your teeth are getting worn down.Get his advice

Bruxism: Clenching or grinding the teeth is called bruxism. It often leads to pain in the jaw joint or tmj. It is often habitual, but relaxation therapy, massage and biofeedback can be helpful. In order to not wear your teeth down, a lot of patients wear a bite guard or bite block. If pain in the jaw joints does occur, a few things hat help include a soft diet, not chewing gum anti-inflammatories.

See your dr.: You should get an evaluation and workup for underlying causes of anxiety like heart disease, thyroid disease, infections, asthma or blood clots in the lung. Sometimes intoxication or withdrawal from drugs can cause anxiety. Sometimes it is just plain environmental stress. Try deep breathing, meditation ; progressive muscle relaxation. A short term trial of benzodiazepines may help.
