STAPH: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is not in any way an appropriate choice to treat your Staph infection. Staph is now resistant to most penicilins. Your abscess is the clue that this is staph and you need more appropriate health care.

2-4 days: Assuming you do not have diabetes, an immune system compromised by a disease or by a medication, or a pilonidal cyst, your current treatment plan should result in the boil decreasing in size, pain and tenderness day by day. If that doesn't happen, you will need to get reexamined for possible change in treatment plans or antibiotics. Hope that helps.
