Very common: The braces are an irritant to your gums and lips, and can cause sores. You can use some carmex or blistex oil based ointment to cover the sores and ease the pressure of the braces. After a few days, the sores will heal, and your mouth will adapt to the braces. After that, you will likely not have many more sores. Hope this helps!

Braces/Sores: First of all, determine which of the braces/wires are causing your sores. Relief wax can help alleviate the irriation. Using a topical such as Kanka/Orabase can also help reduce the discomfort. If it persists, call your orthodontic specialist to re-evaluate what part of the orthodontic appliances are the cause.

Wax and appointment: in the short term, use some dental wax to create a buffer where the braces and irritating your gums. This is normal for many patients to experience in the first few days. If by day 3 this still persists, see your orthodontist-- they many need to make some minor adjustments.
